Maison Kuehn was founded in 1675 in Ammerschwihr, in the Alsace foothills - one of the oldest active wine houses in the region. The historical Caves de l'Enfer (Hell's Cellars) were dug in the second half of the 17th century and remain the maturation cellar to this day; one of the wells inside dates to 1675.
The house is no longer family-owned: Vins d'Alsace Kuehn is today a subsidiary of the Ingersheim cooperative (trading as Jean Geiler, after the 2022 merger of Ingersheim with Les Faîtières). The Ukrainian importer sticker therefore lists Jean Geiler as the producer of record, with Kuehn as the brand and distribution channel.
