Adanti

Azienda Agricola Adanti was founded in 1972, when Domenico Adanti bought a former convent of Celestine friars in the Arquata hamlet of Bevagna, in the Montefalco hills of Umbria, and restored the abandoned vineyards around it. In 1977 he was joined by cellarmaster Alvaro Palini, whom the house credits as the key figure in mastering Sagrantino vinification. Today the estate is run by Daniela Adanti and her daughter Stella.

The estate farms about 30 hectares of vines spread over the hills of Arquata, Campoletame and Colcimino, and says it follows organic practice: viticulture aimed at reducing treatments, exclusively manual pruning and bunch-by-bunch hand harvest, with the winery running on its own photovoltaic power. The range covers the local pyramid - Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG, Montefalco Rosso DOC, Montefalco Grechetto DOC - plus a set of Umbria IGT wines that includes the Arquata white.
