Domaine Doudet

Domaine Doudet is the label for the Doudet family's own vines in Savigny-lès-Beaune, the estate side of the old négociant house of Doudet-Naudin. Marcel Doudet founded the domaine in the 1930s, in the same years the family took over the négoce, and worked it into the late 1980s; his son Yves ran it until the late 2000s, and his granddaughter Isabelle, the third generation, runs it now under the name Domaine Isabelle Doudet and is in charge of the winemaking. The négociant house was sold to Christophe Rochet in 2014, and today the domaine's wines appear both on Isabelle's own site and, as Domaine Doudet, on the house's.

The vines cover about 13 ha across Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, Aloxe-Corton and Beaune: Corton-Charlemagne and Corton Maréchaudes, Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru Les Guérets and Les Maréchaudes, Beaune Premier Cru Clos du Roy and Cent Vignes, Pernand Premier Cru Sous Frétille and Les Fichots, Savigny Premier Cru Les Guettes and the monopole En Redrescul, the steepest parcel in the village, worked by hand and by horse. Farming is lutte raisonnée with controlled yields and light ploughing, certified HVE since September 2020 per the Burgundy wine board's listing; one German reference claims organic farming since 1997, which the family's own pages do not.

For En Redrescul the family describes settling and the start of fermentation in steel, then the whole wine in barrel, a quarter of it new, for about fifteen months. The house's cellars under the family house at 3 rue Henri Cyrot, with their old vintages, belong to the story of Doudet Naudin, the négociant business.
