IDDA

IDDA is a joint venture between Angelo Gaja, of the Piedmontese house, and Alberto Graci, one of Etna's leading growers. The name is Sicilian dialect for "her" - the local, affectionate name for the volcano. Gaja and Graci agreed to work together in 2016 and made their first wine in 2017. Unusually, they planted on Etna's southern and south-western flank, in the communes of Biancavilla and Belpasso, rather than the more famous north and east; a cellar was built at Belpasso, where estate harvests began in 2023. Farming follows Graci's house approach - organic, with indigenous yeasts. The white is Carricante; the reds are Nerello Mascalese with Nerello Cappuccio.
