Fernando Mihăilescu set out to make wine in a style of his own, by the traditional method. His son Paul later joined him. Crama Ferdi calls itself a relatively young winery, and its bottles are marked "since 2009". It is based in Vălcănești, in Prahova, and it planted its first vines in the Tohani area.
The house holds that quality starts in the vineyard. The vineyard gets close attention, the grapes are selected vine by vine, and they are picked by hand into crates.
In the cellar the house's principle is "less is more": as little intervention as possible. The red wines then spend one to two years in oak barriques.
The names are personal. Crama Ferdi says each one is tied to the personal memories of its maker. The range includes a Cuvée Paul, an Unchiu Puiu, a Mister S. and a Lady Black.
The house sums itself up in one line: wine for friends, with roots in passion, courage and devotion.
