Site Updates Vol. 8
We Actually Fixed the Wine Filtering Disaster
Listen, I know what you're thinking. "Another bloody update post?" But this time it's different. This time, we've actually solved that nightmare of scrolling through hundreds of wines trying to find that one Riesling you had three months ago at that place with the weird chairs.
The Great Filter Revolution
Remember those tiny filter dropdowns crammed into column headers? The ones that made you want to throw your phone across the room? Yeah, those are dead. Murdered. Buried in the digital graveyard where bad UX decisions go to rot.

What We've Built Instead
A Proper Filter Panel
- Lives above the wine table like it should've been from the beginning
- Actually works on your phone (revolutionary, I know)
- Has emojis because why the hell not 🍷
Search That Doesn't Make You Cry
- Type whatever you remember about the wine. Seriously, whatever (as long as it works)
- Can't spell Gewürztraminer? Neither can I. It'll find it anyway
- Works with other filters because obviously it should
All the Filters You Actually Need
- 🌍 Countries & regions (finally) - And here's the clever bit: it respects hierarchy. Can't remember that specific Grand Cru from Côte de Nuits? Type "Côte de Nuits" and it will display everything related to that area. Hell, type "Côte d'Or" or even just "Burgundy" - it knows what you mean. Because sometimes, after a few glasses, "that amazing wine from somewhere in Burgundy" is the best your brain can manage
- 🍇 Grape varieties (about bloody time)
- 🏭 Producers (because you have favourites, admit it)
- 🎨 Colours
- 🥂 Wine types (still vs all the bubbly variations)
- 💰 Price range (for when you're feeling fancy or broke)
- ⭐ Ratings (including "show me the disasters")
- 📅 Date range (for nostalgic journeys)
URL Magic
Your filters live in the URL now. Share a link to "all the Pinot Noirs under 900 UAH I rated above ☆ 4.0 and it just works. Browser back button? Works. Accidentally close the tab? Your filters are still there when you come back.
Convive Pages: From Sad Lists to Actual Dashboards
Remember those convive pages? Those pathetic lists of wines we've shared together? Well, we've gone completely mental and turned them into proper dashboards.
The Overview Tab (Or: "Look How Much We Drink Together")
Your Personal Wine Stats
- Total wines conquered together
- This year's damage so far
- How many events you've survived
- Your average rating (with the best and worst outliers, because honesty)
Pretty Charts That Actually Mean Something
- 🗓️ A GitHub-style heatmap of your drinking patterns (yes, you can see your problem months)
- 📈 Monthly consumption trends (spot the lockdown spike)
- ⭐ Rating evolution scatter plot (watch yourself become pickier)
- 📍 Favourite venues chart (that one wine bar owns you, doesn't it?)
Latest Wines
Your last 10 wines, displayed as little circular portraits. They look quite dignified for bottles that probably didn't survive the night.
The All Wines Tab (The Good Stuff)
Wines grouped by date and location, with a timeline that actually makes sense. Events stay together, tastings flow in order, and everything connects with these subtle lines that make me unreasonably happy.

Plus proper filtering because we're not savages (!!!):
- Search by whatever you remember
- Filter by producer, location, and event
- Date ranges for archaeological expeditions
- Score filtering with actual operators (≥, ≤, =, or "show me the unrated mysteries")
The Analytics Tab (For Nerds Like Us)
Deep dive into your drinking patterns:
- Rating distributions (how harsh are you really?)
- Producer loyalty rankings (who owns your palate?)
- Grape variety preferences (Pinot Noir person? Thought so)
- Monthly patterns (December always wins)
- Geographic heat maps (your liver's world tour)
Some convives even get photo galleries, but that's only for the special ones. You know who you are.
What's Next?
I could tell you, but then I'd have to make you drink Bud Light. Let's just say there's more convive magic coming, and the analytics are about to get properly ridiculous.
The Honest Bit
Look, I know update posts are usually boring as hell. But we've actually built something useful here. The old system was a disaster – I know it, you know it, my grandmother knows it. This new one? It's what we should've had from the start. But it's still only the beginning.
Try it. Break it. Tell me what's still rubbish. That's how we make it better. Santé 🥂
