Tasted blind and was thinking in the right direction, but could not remember the winemaker's name from the first attempt, eventually nailed it though. What helped me is the high acidity (so I was thinking about something young, and due to the naked nature of acidity - more of a natural part), not super powerful perlage (again, maybe natural winemaker?) yet with interesting oxidation (non-vintage? Réserve Perpétuelle?) and some moonshine notes (natural?) so the signs were there. Overall, it's so much better than my previous attempt - probably some time in the cellar was necessary.
60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Blanc. 80% 2020 and 20% of reserve perpétuelle wine (2010-2019). 12 months on lees aged in barrels. Tirage in November 2021, disgorgement in March 2023.
Presented itself with a modest charm, offering scents of bruised apples, chalk, and subtle bakery notes, all laced with a hint of Jerez. Though fresh, well-balanced and mineral-driven, complexity was wanting, and it fell short on intensity and finish. Anticipation met with anticlimax upon unveiling the label. Maybe a bottle variation? At least I guessed it was a Pinot Noir-driven Champagne.
