Tasting Notes
For some reason, the 2014 release is a bit challenging for me. This time, though, I liked it more---even despite the filthy notes on the first nose. But with time, it gets better and better. Notes of rotten fruits, tea, spices, acetone, honey, nuts, and dried apricots. Powerful yet nicely developed tannins and good acidity. This bottle probably needs more time. Oh, and this wine captivates with a long finish featuring flavours of burnt caramel (think zapajana kava). The most restrained vintage among tasted ones.
Aye, Gravner. Unique style, clean and lean. Even sterile. But the bottle is too young, restrained and doesn't impress me much. So I don't share the sentiment of others, this is not my wine of the night (even bonus bottles excluded). Lovely notes of bái mǔdān, medicine, dried herbs, nuts and peach. Oh! Lots of peaches, the fruit here is nice. Balanced, round and flavourful.
