3.8Hard to rate a 56-year-old wine on the same scale, but it's not completely dead, so there is that. Blind tasting old bottles is its own pleasure - at this distance, regions and grapes converge, terroir fades, and you're left reading whatever the wine chose to preserve. I was confident about Italy - either Barbaresco or Chianti. My bet was the 80s, but it turned out to be 1970. Dried herbs, leather, faded cherry, a ghostly tannic frame. Still standing. Respect.
