Approachable, mineral-driven Barbera - the kind you eat with and don't think too much about. Fresh red cherry, sour cherry, wild berries, with violet and herbal spice underneath. Juicy and lively, bright mouth-watering acidity, medium-bodied and relatively soft. Does the job.
Mosca - or La Mosca Ubriaca / The Drunk Fly, depending on the market - is Olek Bondonio's playful Barbera: 100% Barbera from a young vineyard in the Barbaresco zone. Spontaneous fermentation in steel, aged in both steel and old wood, unfined and unfiltered, with 20 ppm SO2 at bottling. Labelled as Vino Rosso (Italy's lowest tier) because it's the first time Olek bottled this fruit under his own name - declassified to keep it from being confused with his previous négociant Barbera releases. The current release is the 2024 vintage (lot L04/24), sold as NV. 13.5% ABV. Intended as easy-drinking, ready before the rest of Olek's lineup.
