Join to read it and the restPochi Filagn is dialect for "a few rows" - the small block of Barbera scattered among the Nebbiolo on Accomasso's roughly three hectares at Annunziata, in La Morra. It is his only Barbera, bottled here since at least the late 2000s. Like everything in his cellar it is made in full Barolo mode: fermentation in concrete with long macerations, then years of aging in large old botti, held back until he judged it ready rather than shipped on a schedule.
The 15 percent alcohol is normal for the wine, not a quirk of the year - old-vine Barbera picked at full ripeness runs high here. 2021 was a low-yielding, concentrated Langhe vintage, cut by spring frost and finished in a hot, dry late summer. It is also one of the last vintages made in Lorenzo Accomasso's lifetime: he died in August 2025, at 91, and the family continues the estate.
