This wine isn't merely a drink - it's a bold statement on a gloomy day. Its deep, saturated color immediately captures your eye. On the nose, there's an almost stewed medley of apricot jam and dried apricot, laced with a nutty, honeyed richness that hints at custard. Yet on the palate, the vitality has dimmed; the acidity is just a bit too low, leaving the experience somewhat flat. Still, playful traces of overcooked chamomile, calendula, buckwheat honey, and dried apricot inject a quirky charm. The oak and modest tannins. A curious yet timeworn character.
P.S. It was served blind and of course we didn't guess although I joked about kinship with a Sauvignon Blanc by Gentle Folk.
