Liquorice, blackcurrant, and a flash of cornichon - a cool natural-wine register sitting on top of the Ripasso base. Round and long on the palate, generous without becoming syrupy. The Kurni vibes are there - same concentrated direction - just pulled back from the syrup. Not super complex, but not bad either.

Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC from Massimago in Mezzane di Sotto (Verona). Traditional Valpolicella blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, refermented over the dried-grape pomace from the estate's Amarone. Organic, 14% ABV, bottled March 2024. The bottle carries Franco Chiani limited-edition label art featuring sketched character portraits.
