The 2013 vintage release of Egly-Ouriet's Millésime, drawn from old-vine Ambonnay Grand Cru parcels - thin clay-limestone over pure Campanian chalk, south-facing slope, the heart of Egly's holdings. House composition is roughly 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, though the exact split for the 2013 isn't published. Whole-cluster Coquard pressing, indigenous-yeast fermentation in older Dominique Laurent oak, no malolactic.
One hundred and one months on lees in bottle - at the long end of Egly's Millésime track record. Dosage 2 g/L Extra-Brut, hand-disgorged December 2022. Unfined, unfiltered. 12.5% ABV. 2013 was a late, cool growing year in Champagne - very late spring with flowering in early July, then a glorious dry summer pulling the cycle back, with harvest stretching into October. Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims came in with long ripening curves, fine red-fruit definition, and bracing acidity - a vintage that rewarded growers willing to wait, which is Egly's whole programme.
