Oof, this one was a challenge to drink. I mean - I managed, I'm a capable adult - but it's definitely not my style. That said, I'll try to stay objective - at least in my notes if not in the score.
The nose is intensely oaked: burnt butter, butterscotch, coconut, vanilla, honey, and just a shy touch of tropical fruits (lol). Full-bodied with a buttery texture and a bit of tannin. Acidity feels low to me, but the biggest issue is balance and length. It opens with a heavy wave of oak-driven flavours, but they fade quickly, leaving behind a strong, boozy finish - super warm, super long, and oddly spiritous. Even some fortified wines feel less alcoholic.
I get why people love this style, but for me, there are more balanced and compelling options out there.
