Join to read it and the restLa Croix is what Robert-Denogent itself calls its emblematic cuvée, and it grows on ground that has little in common with the rest of the appellation: while Pouilly-Fuissé is overwhelmingly clay and limestone, the domaine's US importer Kermit Lynch lists La Croix as two hectares of vines around 79 years old rooted in dark blue schist, a soil with few parallels elsewhere in the Mâconnais. The domaine describes the wine as a lively, mineral attack that fills out into something rounder, floral and lightly spiced.
The winemaking follows the house's low-intervention line, and the 2022 back label spells it out: fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no oenological inputs and no acid additions, long aging on fine lees, bottled unfined and unfiltered with a total SO2 of 31 mg/l. This vintage spent 19 months in elevage before bottling on 12 April 2024, and the label carries the EU organic leaf.
