Funny I didn't guess this one blind - especially after thinking "huh, this tastes like Kurni Lite." It's one of those wines where the winemaking overshadows everything else. And I get why people enjoy it: for its style, it's really not bad. There's menthol, milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla, scorched wood - and somewhere in the background, a flicker of blackcurrant jam trying to break through the oak bars. The fruit presence is minimal, subdued under all that wood.
On the palate it's thick, sweetish (yes, there's 10g/L of residual sugar), with a surprising bit of juiciness - oh, and some cherry does show up eventually. It's just not my thing. I can't give a high score to a wine where oak is the main character. But if this is your style - sure, why not. You will not forget this blockbuster.
