This wine features a clean and intense bouquet, abundant with honey, hay, unfiltered sunflower oil, jasmine, mandarin, yellow fruits, and hints of flint. Its palate is both beautiful and intense, yet remains impeccably balanced and well-structured, underscored by clean acidity. It masterfully combines incredible power with finesse, showcasing its sophisticated character.
The 2014 release of Valentini's Trebbiano d'Abruzzo - 100% Trebbiano Abruzzese (the indigenous Abruzzo grape, distinct from the more common Trebbiano Toscano), and one of the cult Italian whites of the modern era. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, no temperature control, no filtration. Aged in large old Slavonian oak botti of fifty to seventy hectolitres for around two years before release - the canonical Valentini Trebbiano élevage. 2014 was a cool, wet year across much of Italy; Abruzzo specifically saw a cold spring, rainy weather through bloom, and a moderate summer producing wines with intense acidity. Widely framed as a particularly strong vintage for Abruzzo whites - Trebbiano-friendly - even as the reds struggled.
