Join to read it and the restvom Haus is the house wine in the plain sense: the first step of Pfaffl's Grüner Veltliner range, below the single-site wines, and meant by the estate to be drunk within one to three years.
The estate describes its origin simply as the region around Vienna, with loess soils, hot days and cool nights.
The grapes are destemmed and crushed, left on their skins for about four hours, then pressed pneumatically. The juice ferments at 18°C under automatic temperature control, stays in stainless steel and is bottled at the estate. The 2024 sheet gives 4.6 g/l of acidity and 3.9 g/l of residual sugar.
Austrian Wine's vintage report calls 2024 a roller-coaster. Early budburst was followed by late frost in the second half of April, mostly in low-lying vineyards. Rain then fell on an equally early flowering and caused coulure. In Niederösterreich the heat lasted almost the whole summer, into early September. The result was a harvest well below the average of recent years.
