Decent, dense wine that knows its place. Simple and straight as an arrow - not something you'd contemplate solo, but perfectly fine as a food lubricant. Cherry dominates the nose with blackberry shadows and violet touch. Quite powerful tannins, good acidity keeping things honest. More cherries and plums on the palate, medium finish with blueberry, oak, and yet more cherry. Yeah, it's over-oaked, but what do you expect? This is Lagrein doing its sturdy Northern Italian thing without any ambition beyond the dinner table.
