Tasting Notes
Unicorn wine. More than 10 different varieties: Monica, Niedda Carta (native to the area), Cannonau, Bovale, Bovale Piccolo, Giró, Pascale, and others. Micro plots of approximately 100/120 years old. Spontaneous fermentation in open vats, manual punching down and daily pumping over, 14 months of ageing in steel.
Schésciu, in the Seuese dialect, means "forgotten" - referring to the town's wine that won numerous awards in the 19th century, when it boasted 1,500 hectares of vineyards. Currently, about twenty-five remain. We opened bottle #139 / 250.
Woah, what even is this. The nose might be closed in the glass, but the palate - fuck me, it's beautiful. Super juicy, balanced, still a bit young and not quite ready, but Christ, you want to keep tasting it. Stems and medicine cabinet in the aroma. Begging for meat. It has this gorgeous berry core, some meat or blood character running through it. Very good. Very delicious. Complex and incredibly beautiful wine. This is what happens when you don't forget.
