A very similar experience overall, but this time the wine showed itself much better. Lovely salinity, with bruised fruits, lemon, pomelo, and a touch of riverbank. Good structure - yes, it's a little watery at times, but everything is nicely balanced, making it seriously enjoyable to drink.
The wine lies (Ich Lüge) - because, due to regulations, it couldn't declare its true identity: Welschriesling. Which is Riesling, just not that Riesling. No hard feelings, though.
Aged for 4 and 5 months in acacia barrels (300L and 500L), it shows an interesting and slightly restrained nose - ripe and underripe white fruits, a citrus blend of lemon and pomelo, and a gentle, riverbank-like earthiness. Subtle, but aromatically engaging.
On the palate, it's lean, clean, and refreshing. Light-bodied with vibrant acidity that keeps everything lively. Zesty, nuanced, and quietly expressive. I've got another bottle, and it clearly deserves a slower, more focused revisit.
