Organic Anarchy is the name Aci Urbajs gives his range, and this is its white blend: Chardonnay, Kerner and rizling from his steep vineyards around Rifnik, above Šentjur in Slovenian Styria. It is a biodynamic wine from a Demeter farm, made with no sulphur added.
Which rizling goes into it is an open question. In Slovenia the word alone can mean either Riesling or Laški rizling (Welschriesling), two unrelated grapes. An older profile of the farm lists Laški rizling among its varieties, while a UK merchant selling the same blend calls it Riesling.
Little is published about the 2015 itself, but the same merchant describes how the 2013 of this blend was made: grapes picked by hand and destemmed, two weeks of fermentation with native yeasts in an open-top vat, twelve months in old Slovenian oak, and no fining, filtration or added sulphur. Only 300 bottles of that vintage were made, and the merchant places the style somewhere between a white and an orange wine.
