Marlborough winery of Australian-born winemaker Ant Moore, in New Zealand since 2002: about 160 hectares across the Awatere, Waihopai and Wairau valleys, and a cellar door on Rapaura Road.
Ant Moore came to New Zealand from Australia in 2002, and in his own telling he has done every job in winemaking since. He developed bare blocks into vineyards, bought a winery and built it up, and he is still the winemaker. The cellar door is on Rapaura Road outside Blenheim, sharing the site with a restaurant and a taproom.
His Marlborough vineyards come to about 160 hectares, a mix of owned, leased and contract-grown sites in the Awatere, Waihopai and Wairau valleys. The winery calls him an experimenter: he brought in wild ferments, dropped fining on his Sauvignon Blanc and put part of it in old barrels. The range runs from The Fancy Cow wines through the estate wines up to Moore & Moore, made from a select parcel or a particular vineyard.
