Small Gambellara producer working volcanic basaltic soils in the Agugliana locality - the same volcanic hills of the Veneto's east that drive Soave, Lessini Durello, and the Garganega-based passiti. Pergola veronese training on terraced slopes around 300m, biological farming run on biodynamic principles.
Volcanalia is a small Gambellara producer working volcanic basaltic soils in the Agugliana locality, around 300 metres above sea level - the same volcanic hills of the Veneto's east that drive Soave, Lessini Durello, and the Garganega-based passiti.
The estate's vineyards are pergola veronese on terraced slopes with south / south-east exposure. First plantings date to 1968; average vine age sits between 30 and 50 years. Farming is biological, run on biodynamic principles.
The house style favours focus over scale: tiny production runs, indigenous yeasts, minimal handling, long élevage in old French oak barriques, and unfiltered bottling. Recioto / passito work in particular is a signature - drying Garganega on the traditional 'picai' racks from harvest through the following spring before pressing, then letting fermentation finish (and sometimes never quite finish) in barrique.
