Champagne house founded 1772 in Reims; iconic Yellow Label NV is the world's most-recognised non-vintage Champagne. The maison farms ~382 hectares across mostly Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne. Chef de cave: Didier Mariotti since 2020 (after Dominique Demarville, 2006-2020).
Veuve Clicquot is one of the founding houses of modern Champagne. Founded 1772 by Philippe Clicquot in Reims, the maison passed through the management of Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin (the 'Veuve' / widow Clicquot) after her husband François died in 1805 - it was under her direction that the house pioneered riddling (remuage), the technique that made clear sparkling Champagne possible at scale.
Today the house is part of LVMH (since 1987). Cellar leadership has passed from Jacques Péters → Dominique Demarville (2006-2020) → Didier Mariotti (2020-present).
The maison farms ~382 hectares of vineyards across mostly Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne. The flagship Yellow Label NV remains the world's most recognised non-vintage Champagne; alongside it are La Grande Dame (the prestige cuvée, named for Madame Clicquot), the rosés, the Vintage releases, and - since 2017 - the Extra Brut Extra Old (EBEO) reserve-only series.
