Domaine Lebrun

Domaine Lebrun is a family estate in Les Berthiers, a hamlet on the Saint-Andelain hill at the heart of Pouilly-Fumé. The family has farmed vines here since the early nineteenth century, and the estate in its current form dates to 1861, when Fernand and Eugénie Lebrun built it up. Today it is run by Laurent Lebrun, sixth generation: an agronomist who spent years in Australia and headed an estate in Bordeaux before returning home to revive both the family property and the Petits Champs area of Les Berthiers.

The domaine covers around ten hectares of Sauvignon Blanc spread over a dozen lieux-dits on the slopes of Saint-Andelain - Les Chailloux, La Renardière, Le Nozet, Le Champ des Corbiers among them - on the commune's signature flint-rich clays (argiles à silex) with pockets of clay-limestone. Winemaking is traditional and terroir-first: stainless steel, fine lees, no rush. The wines are classic Saint-Andelain Pouilly-Fumé - citrus and white fruit over a chalky, smoky flint spine - with the top bottling, Cuvée Eugénie, adding oak and years of patience to the formula.
