100% Chardonnay aged in oak and acacia - but it feels like new and/or heavily toasted barrels, because the smoky bacon note is so overwhelming. The fruit barely gets a word in - some pear and apple try to peek through but are quickly drowned out by sweet spices, butter, and that relentless bacon.
On the palate, the smokiness could have been a fun twist, but again - bacon dominates. Maybe a hint of tropical fruit underneath, but it's hard to tell. This attempt at a New World style has gone completely overboard, and the result is a wine that's increasingly difficult to enjoy.
Yes, it's rich and expressive, but beyond that... there's not much to hold onto. 🤷 A crowd pleaser? Maybe.
