Nebbiolo d'Alba Vigna Valmaggiore

I have very mixed feelings about this wine. It tries hard to please, but it's like it walked into the wrong party. I can't say it's terrible or anything like that---it's just too stifling and dull. Sure, it has red and black fruits, which we appreciate since we're simple folks. There's some earthiness, which we also enjoy, considering we live on the earth (mostly). The spices are a nice touch too. But honestly, why so much oak? The biggest issue, though, is the taste---it lacks acidity yet feels so green on the palate. So it's unclear what this wine will ultimately become.
