A white Burgundy from the Blagny hillside, high on the slope between Meursault and Puligny, labelled Meursault Premier Cru - the Blagny appellation itself is red-only, so these old-vine whites carry the Meursault name. Chardonnay from old vines on limestone and marl.
Rijckaert is a negociant-vinificateur based at Davayé in the Mâconnais, founded in 1998 by Jean Rijckaert, a Belgian who had co-founded Verget with Jean-Marie Guffens before going his own way; Florent Rouve has run it since Jean's retirement in 2013. The house buys fruit on the vine and does everything itself - hand-harvest, indigenous yeasts, and barrel-raising on the lees without stirring.
2015 was a warm, dry Côte de Beaune vintage that gave ripe, concentrated whites with enough freshness to keep them in balance. Dry, 13.5%, bottled in spring 2017.
