Georges Laval is a small grower-Champagne house in Cumières, a Premier Cru village in the Vallée de la Marne where the Laval family has been growing vines since 1694. The estate has practised organic viticulture since 1971 - one of the very earliest in Champagne - certified by Ecocert (FR-BIO-01). Vincent Laval joined in 1991 after his studies and has run the cellars since 1996. Cuvées are vinified in oak barrels, bottled Brut Nature or Extra Brut (very low to zero dosage), no fining, no filtration. The lineup runs from the Cumières Premier Cru blend (the entry cuvée, three permitted Champagne grapes from village plots) through single-vineyard releases like Les Chênes, Les Hautes Chèvres, and Les Longues Violes, plus the multi-vintage perpetual-reserve Garennes drawing from Chambrecy, Damery, Cumières, and Hautvillers. RM 30808-02 on the labels marks Laval as a Récoltant-Manipulant - a grower who bottles their own fruit.
