Tasting Notes
Every bottle a delight. Oak-aged and showing its years, yet somehow defiantly fresh beneath the muscular, old-school profile. That tension between age and vitality is what makes Tondonia Tondonia. Consistently beautiful.
Bloody hell, what a wine. Cherry, leather, confiture, oak, chocolate, musk, tobacco - the whole Rioja playbook executed beautifully. It's muscular, with tannins so dry they're almost cat's tongue rough. But listen, brilliant acidity saves it, and that finish just keeps evolving, transitioning from power to something delicate and flavourful. Yes, it has mad potential for ageing, but it's already fascinating to drink now. Complex, multilayered, and incredibly compelling. Proper Tondonia magic.
The wine, starting off a bit restrained, gradually unveils its old school charm. Its bouquet is a delightful mix of cherry, leather, confiture, oak, chocolate, and musk, offering a sense of more evolved character compared to previous release.
On the palate, it has a muscular quality, with tannins that might initially appear overly dry, akin to cat's tongue. However, this characteristic is skillfully offset by good acidity and a long, evolving aftertaste that transitions into a delicate and flavourful finish. This wine is complex and multilayered, striking a balance between being neatly crafted and inherently delicious.
